Connected Communities in the Wide Bay

Welcome to the Wide Bay QENDO Community!

  • Meet your local coordinator - Rhianne

Hi, my name is Rhianne McMullen-Legdin. I'm a 36-year-old Urban & Regional Planner from Hervey Bay, married and a proud fur mum to her little foxy Eleanor. I'm a dedicated advocate for women with Endometriosis, a cause that is close to my heart after facing significant career challenges in a male-dominated industry due to the condition.

My journey with Endometriosis included nearly annual surgeries, which culminated in the removal of my left ovary in 2021. These health issues delayed my degree, taking nearly 10 years to complete. Without the unwavering support of my husband and the University, I wouldn't have been able to finish my Bachelor's degree this year.

Although I had to put my passion for cars on hold, I’m hoping to recommence my volunteering with Supercars early next year. Growing up in a small country town, I’ve experienced the challenges of accessing adequate medical care in regional areas. I’ve often travelled long distances, once making a nine-hour journey for treatment. Now, I’m advocating for better healthcare services and support for women in the Wide Bay region, with the goal of improving access to vital resources closer to home.
