Recap: Darling Downs Women's Health Expo

By Team QENDO

On Saturday 7 March 2020, we held our 2nd Annual Darling Downs Women’s Health Expo at the City Golf Club in Toowoomba, which was proudly presented by the Queensland Government. The event coincided with Queensland Women’s Week, as well as Endometriosis Awareness Month, the perfect opportunity to raise the flare for women’s health.

We would like to start off by saying thank you so much to the Queensland Government. We wouldn’t have been able to make the event such a success without partners like the Queensland Government, and it was amazing to see them champion an event that was dedicated to empowering women in rural and regional areas to manage their health.

As well, we would also like to thank the Hon. Di Farmer, Minister for Child Safety, Youth and Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, for opening the event, and Deputy Mayor, Cr. Carol Taylor for doing the Welcome to Country. We are so grateful that they were both able to attend and speak on the day.

The Darling Downs Women’s Health Expo was able to provide much needed support to hundreds of women and families of all ages, across the Darling Downs region. The energy in the room was electric and it was so astounding to see that many people coming to prioritise their health and wellbeing throughout the day. So many women were talking to exhibitors and thought leaders in the women’s health sphere and getting the information they needed to equip their toolkits that assist in the management of their health.

Over 40 businesses exhibited at the expo from Toowoomba and the Darling Downs region, all focused on a different aspect of women’s health. This allowed for a multidiscilpinary, holistic approach, for women to work out the practitioners, therapies and tools that work best for them when it comes to their healthcare. We would like to thank all businesses who exhibited on the day, and got behind the Darling Downs Women’s Health Expo and promoted it within their own networks. We have received lots of positive feedback from businesses who attended, from the information and engagement they had with attendees, to the networking and professional relationships they were able to foster with other businesses.

“Just wanted to touch base and say thank you very much for a well organised and enjoyable expo. It was probably the best engagement that we have had at an expo. The space was well thought out and free flowing. Great to see so many people supporting the event as well”. Casey McIntosh - Peak Performance Sports Physiotherapy

Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of the QENDO forum on the weekend in Toowoomba. It was a fantastic venue and had a better energy about it than the one the year before. I certainly think that we engaged with more people, both potential clients as well as health professionals”. Sharon Stokell - True Clinic

Another key part of the day were our incredible speakers and presenters, who shared information with our expo attendees on a variety of key topics relating to women’s health, including; diet, exercise and posture, mental health and obstetrics and gynaecology. Thank you so much to Leah Stejernqvist from Balance Nutrition, Megan Mansell from Vision Exercise Physiology, Jess from Dorothy Way, and Dr Matthew Stinson from Evolve Women’s Health. As well as our MC for the day, Marrianne from Marrianne and her Microphone.

This was the second Women’s Health Expo hosted by Qendo and the second year Vision Health has attended. It is a great initiative to allow women in the Darling Downs to access professionals and information that they may not have in the past. It is a fantastic way to highlight what great services we have in the Darling Downs and provides women with options to receive help locally, rather than having to travel to Brisbane to access health professional/services. I really enjoy the day each year to not only talk with as many women as possible but also with other businesses to network and allow me to provide the best care to my clients. The expo continues to grow and I look forward to seeing bigger and better things in the years to come.” Megan Mansell - Vision Exercise Physiology

We would also like to thank all the women and families who attended the expo and showed their support for this event. The feedback from the 2020 expo has been phenomenal from attendees, and we can’t wait to bring the Darling Downs Women’s Health Expo back for 2021.
